This is nothing new. Everyone who uses a smartphone, a social network, photo sharing, and other social activities on the Internet should be aware of how their privacy is being compromised. Each click of a mouse provides some sort of data about you and your online habits, for the benefit of companies such as Google.

• Already Google has adapted its AdSense advertising program to work with its email service, so users see ads based the subject of emails sent and received through Gmail. Owners of smart fridges and ovens with Wi-Fi connection will in the future see ads that reflect their shopping habits and personal food preferences.

If you have ever used Google, for anything you have ever done on the Internet, you have already provided information about your online research and viewing habits. If you use Gmail, Google knows the content of your emails. It also knows all about your social media activities, if you use Google+ and Google+ Hangouts.

Risk of Hacking

Your use of smoke alarms, air conditioning and heating systems have not previously been accessible by anyone other than yourself, with the development of smart systems provided by Nest, it could be possible for a hacker to infiltrate your system and take control of your home.

The acquisition of Nest by Google is worrying a lot of people by creating concern about issues of privacy.
